One of the most common questions asked of an esthetician is, what does a facial do for me? Simple answer, plenty.

We all have professionals that we trust; our hairstylist, our mechanic, our handyman. We trust that as professionals, they have done the research and have the knowledge and experience to deliver a higher quality of service than we could do ourselves. Sure you can cut your own hair and fix your own engine-but would you?

You’ve probably heard all of the hype and chatter about the HydraFacial, but do you know WHY everyone’s talking about them? Let’s get educated! A HydraFacial is a 6 step medical grade facial! HydraFacial is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. It is PERFECT for all skin types, yes, ALL OF THEM!

As an Esthetician for many years I always get asked, "What should I be doing to my skin?" And, "My skin is different in the summer, should I be doing something different?" I have shared some of my knowledge with my guests and I would love to pass on some of this information to you!

#1 ALWAYS Wear Sunscreen.
It is so important to protect your skin and that's the first thing I tell to everyone. If you are not using a sunscreen, then you need to get up front and pick one out before you leave!

As it is with all areas of life, it's the little things that often turn into big things.  It's the small, daily routines that create the habits that ultimately shape our lives.  And so it is with skincare.  When you commit to daily taking steps to better your skin, you are on the path to beauty.  Sometimes, the results are immediate - firmer skin, brighter complexion, less wrinkles or aging spots.  But sometimes, it's the accumulation of years of good skincare rituals that result in the skin you want.  Today is the perfect day to start the journey to great skin!

Whether you stayed a little too long on the beach, or chased the kids in the park all afternoon - we know how the sun takes its toll on our skin!  When you do find yourself or one of your family members with a sunburn, try this cooling mist to help with the pain and inflammation.  In a glass spray bottle, combine 1 cup of Aloe Vera Juice, 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E, and the following pure essential oils: (12 drops of Lavendar, 6 drops of Tea Tree, and 6 drops of Chamomile).  Shake before each use to gently mix ingredients.

Our skin is our body’s largest organ, and like all of our other organs, it needs special care to keep our bodies safe and healthy. Even if you don’t have the money or resources for a full-blown skin care routine (think Hollywood-style), do your skin a favor with these five basic steps.

Mardi Gras (translated as Fat Tuesday in French) is upon us! It’s your last night to eat whatever you want before your Lenten season fast! It’s time to go wild and let your healthy eating habits go to the wayside for just one day, because tomorrow, you’ll be wishing you hadn’t given up those M&Ms.

But not so fast. All of that rich, fatty food can really wreck your skin! We’re not talking about fatty food as your average weight problem, but fatty food as your overall skin problem as a reflection of your overall health problem.

Some people might not realize this but healthy feet mean a healthy body. The feet contain blood vessels and nerves that connect to the heart, brain, and spinal cord. This kind of interactivity and connectivity will give evidence of certain abnormalities within the body via the feet.

Even the very hairs (or lack thereof) on your toes are indicators of major goings-on inside the body and specifically the heart. For instance, did you know that hairless toes and/or hairless feet are an indication of circulation problems? This means heart disease of some kind.

While many people have embraced the all natural organic health benefits of the food we put in our bodies, what about what we put on it? Of all the beauty products that we smear on our skin everyday can contain hundreds of chemicals that are potentially hazardous to our health. While cosmetics may seem harmless since we only use a small amount, it is the cumulative effects over many years that can be considered as slow poisoning. Switching to chemical free natural cosmetics makes a sense just like eating more natural organic foods.
